Roland released TR-08 Rhythm Composer and SH-01A Synthesizer
Roland announced new machines within the Boutique and AIRA lines with the three new products, the TR-08 Rhythm Composer and the SH-01A Synthesizer.
TR-08 Rhythm Composer
The TR-08 Rhythm Composer is the newest Roland Boutique instrument, inspired by the most famous drum machine of all time — the Roland TR-808.
The Roland TR-808 has featured on countless records and tracks — from chart-topping pop songs to underground classics — and is one of the most revered electronic musical instruments of all time. The booming bass drum, sizzling hi-hats, snappy snare, and that unmistakable cowbell, has formed the rhythmic foundation of many genres with a sound that is engrained in today’s music and culture.
The TR-08 brings the look, sound, and feel of the original 808 — with stunning accuracy — to the Roland Boutique format. From the instantly-recognizable red-orange-yellow-white markings, the shape of the sequencer buttons, switches and knobs are details that have been painstakingly reproduced to match the iconic recreation of sounds. Along with the aesthetic touches, the TR-08 contains new features like 16 sub-steps for fast rolls, independent trigger out track, compression/gain/tune for instruments and a selectable modified “long decay” bass drum for more of that legendary BOOM!
SH-01A Synthesizer
The SH-01A is the latest synthesizer in the Roland Boutique range — a faithful reproduction of the legendary grey monosynth, the Roland SH-101.
Released in 1982, the simplistic design of the “101” earned a legion of fans with its quick-to-program workflow, adept at creating anything from bright, edgy leads, to floor-shaking bass, punchy percussion and exciting sound effects. At its core is an iconic 100-step sequencer whose immediate interface has formed the foundation of countless classic electronic music tracks.
The SH-01A is a meticulous reproduction of the original — in both aesthetics and sound. Inspired design details include the same slider cap design, silver sequencer buttons, metal lever switches and limited-edition red and blue versions. The sounds of the SH-101 have been recreated with the acclaimed Analog Circuit Behavior technology —a solid, sonic foundation for a slew of new features including a four-voice POLYPHONIC mode, 64 preset patches, 64 sequencer patterns and more.
